The children have been learning about a different culture in the form of Chinese New Year. As it is the year of the tiger, the children have enjoyed creating tiger pictures, masks and taking part in other Chinese activities.
On Friday 12th February, a chef from Harlow Water Margin will be at Rum Tum Tugger’s Day Nursery to take part in a taster session with the children. Harlow Star will also be attending to take photos of the event.

William Worm by Sheila Bird and Corinne Bittler
ISBN: 9781848570320
William Worm is a delightful popup book that incorporates a wiggly finger puppet to guide you through the pages. William is on a quest to find a friend to play with but all he encounters are animals who would rather eat him!
William’s adventure is told in a charming rhyming verse that uses repetition. This allows the children to join in with the story at each page and anticipate the next encounter. William finds his play mate in the end…or does he?
By placing your fingers in the puppet, the story is brought to life as you help William to wiggle through the pages and meet the mole, hedgehog, frog, mower, blackbird and rat! This allows the children more interaction with the book and the storyteller, encouraging new vocabulary and the development of listening skills.
The children on the mungojerrie’s room have voted this story as one of their favourites for circle times.
