Book Review

Everyday No Comments »

At nursery, the children spend much of their day looking at books and listening to stories. We thought it would be nice to share some of our books with you in the format of a book review.

Baby Touch: Squeaky Book

Authors Ladybird, Justine Smith
Illustrations by Fiona Land9781409300519

Baby Touch Squeaky Book features a large squeaker on the cover that appears throughout the book thanks to cut-out shapes on the pages. It incorporates a variety of textures throughout. The children in the Baby and toddler rooms love to press the squeaky nose on the happy animal faces and feel their way through the vibrant and sturdy pages. The bright and colourful artwork features new and exciting characters which have quickly become a favourite at nursery. There is enough text in the book to help develop the children’s listening skills and develop an interest in stories, but not too much that will allow the children to lose interest and want to turn the pages too quickly.

The book is large in size and uses descriptive vocabulary to introduce the “Spotty giraffe” and the “Wiggly-squiggly bug”. Along side this there are instructions to follow to make the whole story an interactive experience.

Definitely a book I would recommend for children aged 0-2 years.

We are really proud of Julie and Emma who has successfully completed their NVQ II in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.

They have both worked really hard to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their knowledge in all aspects of childcare and learning.

Julie and Emma have decided to carry on their learning and will soon be starting their NVQ III.
