Part of Laura Boultwood’s professional development saw her change roles in September to take on the challenge of leadership of the Toddler Tugger’s Room. Since then, Jil and I have been actively seeking a suitable leader for the Rumpleteazers room.
Vacancies are advertised externally and suitable candidates are also sort from our existing team. I’m pleased to say that our new room leader will be Sharon Nicoll. Prior to fronting our baby room, Sharon has managed other nurseries and has worked predominantly with this exciting age group. Jil and I are looking forward to working alongside Sharon as she puts her stamp on this age group.
Clearly, this leaves a vacancy in the baby room. Jil and I are delighted to be welcoming Laura Cook to our team to take on this role. Laura has superb Level III qualifications and is a graduate of the Norland College for Nannies. Her CV is a pleasure to read and shows a wonderful array of experience with babies. Laura has already begun a few sessions with us to become familiar with the workings of the room, the babies unique routines and familiarisation with the nursery team. She takes on her full time role in the week commencing 3rd November. Welcome to the team Laura!!

Jil met with Amanda today. We are pleased to say she looks and sounds much better. Amanda really wants to be back at work on Monday but we’re awaiting confirmation from her GP to give her the all clear.
Amanda’s absence has meant a high degree of relief staff working with the Mungojerries in the past month. This is never ideal but clearly we need to maintain the staff to child ratios set by Ofsted. I would like to thank all parents for their co operation and understanding at this time but especially like to thank Lauren, Anneliese and Jes for holding the fort for Amanda.

You may have heard in the local news today about a new scheme that gives restaurants a star rating for their commitment to healthy eating and food safety. We may not be a restaurant but, as a nursery, we do fall into the same category as we serve fresh food to a vulnerable age group. Because of our recent Gold Award for Healthy Eating and our excellent record of food safety inspections, we have been awarded the highest level – 5 Stars!!
Jil attended a presentation yesterday to receive our certificate and to meet “The Press”. We don’t often blow our own trumpets but this is an example of how Rum Tum’s strives to improve standards across the range of educational and care services that we offer.
